Overview

The Rocketfish Engineering F8x Front Splitter combines high performance with easy, reversible installation. Its low camber airfoil design, refined via CFD, delivers strong downforce with an adjustable AOA (+1 to -3 degrees) using AJ Hartman splitter rods. Extending 6 inches past the bumper, it suits many time attack classes and features four skid pucks (a titanium option is available for sparks) for protection. Installation uses four mounting points—two hinge mounts and two tension rods—with minimal drilling and no painted surface modifications. The splitter is removable, roadside or trackside, and FEA analysis ensures it stays attached at high load.

Design Brief

The Rocketfish Engineering F8x Front Splitter features a continuous low camber airfoil design, diverging from conventional splitter ducts to achieve accelerated flow. Combined with an adjustable angle of attack (AOA) ranging from +1 to -3 degrees and optimized ride height parameters, it delivers high downforce across a wide range of flow vectors while resisting stall. The design, initially informed by research on low camber airfoils in ground effect, was refined and validated through computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Adjustable AOA is facilitated by compressible, length-adjustable AJ Hartmen splitter rods, enabling meaningful downforce adjustments throughout the range.

For practicality, the splitter is designed for roadside or trackside removal, utilizing only four mounting points—two hinge mounts and two tension rods. Full finite element analysis (FEA) was conducted on the mounting solution, ensuring stability under loads generated at -3 degrees AOA at speeds up to 180 mph. Extending 6 inches beyond the bumper, the splitter complies with many time attack class regulations, including the highest “unlimited class.” Additionally, it incorporates four skid pucks to protect the splitter during track apexes or steep parking lot entries, with the titanium option producing sparks for added flair.
